About Ms. Shaffer
Hello! My name is Emma Shaffer and I am from Truckee, but have lived in the Sierra Valley on and off since 2010! This is my sixth year teaching! I am so excited to be working with middle and high schoolers this year, and I really love teaching and working with kids of all ages.
I attended Truckee Elementary, Sierra Mountain Middle School, and Truckee High School during my K-12 journey. I have attended quite a few colleges but received my A. S. in Natural Science from Sierra College, and my B. A. in English from University of Nevada Reno. I finishing my teaching credential through the Cal State TEACH program (online) through Fresno State.
Who lives in my house?
I currently live in Loyalton, CA! I am a single mom to an nine-year-old boy named Otto. We also have a ten-year-old cat named Pippo and a fourteen year old cat named Rocky. We adopted them both from the Humane Society. Pippo has no tail, and we don't know why, but we sure do love him! We also have a dog named Walter. He is half Border Collie, half Corgi, and he is a bundle of energy! We have MANY Chickens, and bunny named Pebbles!
Interests
When I'm not at school, I love to camp and play outside with my kid. I love to read and knit and cook. I love to listen to music and spend time with my family.
I live on a steady diet of black coffee and optimism. I also golf from time to time.
In a previous life, I did PR and Marketing, so I have an appreciation for good writing and design! A LONG time ago I was a band and drama nerd. I also love to play sports and I love competitive board game night. Live music is the best, and beautiful scenery fills my soul.
